A Welcome Change

Renovations to the main lobby at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center (UHC) have recently transformed the entrance with features such as new flooring, lighting, and an illuminated glass wall with the WVU Medicine United Hospital Center logo prominently displayed.

“It was time for a refresh as the hospital recently marked its 14th year on the Bridgeport campus,” said David F. Hess, MD. “A key element of this project was to ensure that our patients and families feel welcome and relaxed from the moment they enter our facility. We want visitors to benefit from better access to services that are now conveniently located in one central area just inside the front entrance.”

Planning and construction took approximately a month to complete. The renovation work did not impact any health services as directional signage assisted with navigation during this process.

“LED lighting was used throughout the project for smarter energy usage,” said Charlie Papa, vice president of Facilities Management. “This is the third project this year where UHC has renovated portions of the hospital, which include the Emergency Department waiting area and most recently completed the Intermediate Unit on the seventh floor.”

UHC plans to launch another renovation project in late fall. Hospital leaders look forward to sharing details concerning that project soon.
