All Seven Graduates Passed the American Board of Family Medicine Certification Exams, Exceeding the National Average
Shaping the future of medicine and health care is exactly what seven graduates from the United Hospital Center Family Medicine Residency program wanted to accomplish. On Friday, June 20, 2025, these residents graduated with a ceremony held at The “O” by Oliverio’s.
The 2025 Family Medicine Residency Program graduates included: Sarah Reed, DO; Johnnie McDonald, MD; Kamaljeet Kaur, MD; Caleb Cotner, DO; Adam Cook, DO; Logan Cheshire, DO; and Madeleine Gwinn, DO.
“As these new physicians go on to change the future of health care in West Virginia and beyond, we wish this class well, as I am extremely proud of their many achievements,” said Eric Radcliffe, M.D., program director. “I am pleased that WVU Medicine United Hospital Center helped in preparing these physicians for a career in medicine.”
During their three years of training, the residents rotated with many of the UHC specialists and maintained patients in the Family Medicine Clinic. After successfully completing their residency requirements, six graduates passed the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) Certification Exam, exceeding the national average scores. The UHC Family Medicine Residency Program has achieved a 100% pass rate with the ABFM for over 10 years. Two graduates passed both the ABFM and the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice (AOBFP). One osteopathic resident passed the AOBFP. This extends the program’s 100 percent pass rate with the AOBFP to more than 30 years.
Several awards were presented to the graduates, including the Resident Teacher Award, the Top Certification Exam Score, the Highest Patient Volume, the Quality C.A.R.E. Award, and the Resident Scholarship Awards.
